If you want to use your Phase to play a back to back set (2 DJs sharing the decks), you have two options.
1. You can either play the set in Relative mode, which will work with all DJ softwares, and allow you to use only one unit to control 2 different laptops.
2. You can use Serato in WIR mode with one setup, but you'll either need to use one laptop only, or 2 Phase units.
To put it differently, If you need to use one Phase unit for a B2B set, you will have to use the DVS mode (RCA cables and virtual deck on REL), but if each DJ has his own Phase, you can do a B2B set using the WIR Mode (USB only).
Here are more details about these 2 methods.
- When using DVS, simply plug Phase to any laptop or power source, plug the mixer's USB A to laptop A, and USB B to laptop B. Each DJ will then be able to use one Remote, and control the corresponding track from his own laptop.
- If you're using Serato, and you want to use the WIR mode, you will use one Phase per computer. It is possible to switch from laptop A to Laptop B without interruption, but keep in mind the laptop A's audio will be cut when switching from USB A to USB B.
When using the WIR mode for a B2B set, each DJ needs to have a Phase unit plugged into his laptop. You will then need to plug the Phase A to the laptop plugged on USB A, and set the deck 1 on "USB A", and plug Phase B to the laptop plugged on USB B, and set the deck 2 on "USB B". This will allow each DJ to have total control over his turntable while using the WIR mode.
